El Centro former public library (#0939)
Adjacent to downtown El Centro, a former public library with a hodge podge of art deco and contemporary design. Historic information on the building was scant, but what I did find indicated that the building was even more of a hodge-podge than it seems -- the historic basics of the building are a classic Carnegie library built in 1911. Earthquake damage and efforts to accomodate increasing demands resulted in various modifications. It would, though, have been interesting to see if before the current remodeling.
