Pompeys Pillar National Monument MT (#0473)

Pompeys Pillar National Monument MT (#0473)
Pompeys Pillar, the rock formation, is an area that was not eroded by the Yellowstone river and thus forms a pillar of about one acre in size with excellent visibility up and down the valley formed by the river. There is archaelogical evidence that, due to its height, the pillar was an important place for Indian tribes in the area.
