West Yorkshire 1858 (C480 YWY) and East Yorkshire/Scarborough & District 419 (C419 VVN) in Scarborough – 21 August 1987 (55-20)
Friday 21 August 1987 – Valley Bridge bus station in Scarborough.

Left: The West Yorkshire Road Car Company services from Leeds to the Yorkshire Coast were branded ‘Yorkshire Coastliner’ - a name which went from strength to strength as a registered company name after privatisation. Having worked to Scarborough from its base at Malton 1858 (C480 YWY) was soon to work the 0900 service 843 to Leeds, a journey of about 70 miles taking 2.5 hours. New in October 1985 it was an Eastern Coachworks bodied Leyland Olympian fitted with higher backed semi-coach seating. (Within days of this photograph WYRCC was privatised. Reported in ‘Commercial Motor’ magazine dated 3 September 1987).

Right: East Yorkshire Motor Services/Scarborough and District 419 (C419 VVN), a Reeve Burgess bodied Mercedes-Benz L608D that was new to United Automobile Services their 2419 in May 1986, carries the ‘Scarborough Skipper’ branding. (EYMS had been privatised in February 1987).
