Yelloway-Trathen Express A313 XHE in Peterborough – 22 Oct 1989 (104-14)

Sunday 22 October 1989 (1140) – Yelloway-Trathen Express Limited A313 XHE seen taking a lunch break in Peterborough bus station when working the 0815 Birmingham to Great Yarmouth National Express service 308. The service was scheduled here between 1105 and 1155.

I had had a ride out today travelling from Cambridge to Grantham on a Scottish Citylink coach working the Edinburgh service 377 (then joint with National Express) returning to Cambridge the coach in the background, Wessex of Bristol 206 (CIW 9721), a Plaxton Paramount 3200 bodied Leyland Tiger TRCTL11/3R new to National Travel (West) Limited in April 1983 as 206 (CDG 206Y). It was working the 0825 National Express service 351 from Sheffield to Cambridge (arrival 1240).

After a two hour break in Cambridge the same driver would then work the 1440 service 747 from Cambridge to Bristol (due 2050). The previous day it worked Bristol-Cambridge/Cambridge-Sheffield on the same services.

The passenger in the background is carrying a rather nice period suitcase.
