"Roc au Chien", piton rocheux surplombant la ville La légende raconte qu’un enfant imprudent jouant trop près du bord serait tombé dans une crevasse. Son chien l’aurait suivi, et grâce à ses aboiements, on aurait pu retrouver l’enfant et le sauver. A la mort du chien, en souvenir et par reconnaissance, on aurait enterré le chien sur place et appelé l’endroit le "roc au chien". An arrière plan on distingue la Résidence du Lac, autrefois le "Grand Hôtel" (1898), le premier hôtel de luxe de Bagnoles de l'Orne.

Quand j'ai vu les falaises d'Etretat, j'ai pensé à Claude Monet qui les a peintes souvent, entre 1883 à 1886 (voir PiP de gauche). J'ai voulu mettre ma touche personnelle on y ajoutant cette lanterne. When I saw the cliffs of Etretat, I thought to Claude Monet who painted them often, between 1883 to 1886 (see left PiP). I wanted to put my personal touch by adding this lantern.

PIP: the ruins of Château Gaillard from the west: the keep is on the right and the ruins of the outer bailey, including remains of some of the towers, are on the left. The construction of this ruined medieval castle began in 1196 under the auspices of Richard the Lionheart, who was simultaneously King of England and feudal Duke of Normandy.

Honfleur is especially known for its old, beautiful picturesque port (Vieux Bassin), characterized by its houses with slate-covered frontages, painted many times by artists, including in particular Gustave Courbet, Eugène Boudin, Claude Monet forming the "école de Honfleur" (Honfleur school) which contributed to the appearance of the Impressionist movement.

It's low tide: the rocks are covered with algae and mussels as far as the eye can see. SI, SI, LA CLÔTURE EST SUR LE MUR - HFF! C'est marée basse, les rochers sont couvertes d'algues et de moules à perte de vue. DOCH, DOCH, DER ZAUN IST AUF DER MAUER - HFF! Es ist Ebbe, die Felsen sind mit Algen und Miesmuscheln bedeckt soweit das Auge reicht.

Les falaises de Champeaux (jusqu'à 80 m), offrent une grande diversité par la richesse de leur faune et de leur flore. Du haut de ces falaises se dresse un paysage aux vues imprenables sur le Mont Saint-Michel et sa baie. Au pied de ce massif à marée basse, on y trouve le plus grand récif d’hermelles d’Europe, certains pouvant atteindre jusqu’à 1,5 m de hauteur ! Ces colonies de petits vers marins confectionnent sur les roches des tubes d’une trentaine de centimètre constitués de grains de sable et débris de coquilles. THE BEACH AT THE FOOT OF THE CLIFFS. The cliffs of Champeaux (up to 80 m high), offer a big diversity by the richness of their fauna and flora. From the top of these cliffs, you can enjoy a breathtaking view of the Mont Saint-Michel and its bay. At the foot of this massif at low tide, you can find the largest honeycomb worm reef in Europe, some of which can reach up to 1.5 m in height! These colonies of small marine worms build tubes of about 30 cm on the rocks, made up of grains of sand and shell debris. DER STRAND AM FUSSE DER KLIPPEN. Die Klippen von Champeaux (bis zu 80 m hoch), bieten eine grosse Vielfalt durch den Reichtum ihrer Fauna und Flora. Vor diesen Klippen erhebt sich eine Landschaft mit atemberaubenden Ausblicken auf den Mont Saint-Michel und seine Bucht. Am Fusse des Massivs befindet sich bei Ebbe das grösste Trichterwurm-Riff Europas, von dem einige bis zu 1,5 m hoch werden können! Diese Kolonien von kleinen Meereswürmern bauen auf den Felsen 30 cm lange Röhren aus Sandkörnern und Schalenresten.
