Photo prise avec un grand angle, je me trouve ici au milieu de de la croix latine, vue vers la nef principale, dos au choeur, gauche et droite les transepts. L'église montre dans sa conception d'immenses proportions : avec ses 60 m de long et ses 18 m de large, elle couvre une superficie de plus de 1200 m2. VERZERRTE PERSPEKTIVE... vom Inneren von N-D de Clairmont, der 1150 gegründeten Kirche der ehemaligen Zisterzienserabtei. Mit einem Weitwinkel aufgenommenen Foto, bin ich hier in der Mitte des lateinischen Kreuzes, Blick in Richtung Hauptschiff, Rücken zum Chor, links und rechts davon die Querschiffe. Die Kirche weist in ihrer Gestaltung immense Proportionen auf: mit einer Länge von 60 m und einer Breite von 18 m erstreckt sie sich über eine Fläche von mehr als 1200m2.

Clairmont Monastery was founded in 1152 and until the French Revolution, its history was rather poor in events. In 1791 during the French Revolution it was disbanded and turned into an agricultural property. It was not until 1954 that a private company acquired the then ruinous facility, which it subsequently restored The church, the 60 m long building of the lay brothers (probably the best preserved in France) and the entrance building from the founding time have been preserved. The other buildings date from around 1650. Only traces of the cloister have been preserved. The south wing of the enclosure is in ruins. UN COUP D'OEIL A TRAVERS L'OUVERTURE. L'abbaye de Clairmont a été fondé en 1152 et jusqu'à la Révolution française, son histoire était plutôt pauvre en événements. En 1791, pendant la Révolution française, elle fut dissoute et transformée en propriété agricole. Ce n'est qu'en 1954 qu'une entreprise privée a acquis l'installation alors en ruine, qu'elle a ensuite restaurée. L'église, le bâtiment des convers de 60 m de long (probablement le mieux conservé de France) et le bâtiment d'entrée de l'époque de la fondation ont été conservés. Les autres bâtiments datent d'environ 1650. Seules les traces du cloître ont été conservées. L'aile sud de l'enceinte est en ruine. EIN BLICK DURCH DIE ÖFFNUNG.Das Kloster Clairmont wurde 1152 und bis zur französischen Revolution war seine Geschichte an Ereignissen eher arm. 1791 während der Französischen Revolution wurde es aufgelöst und in ein landwirtschaftliches Anwesen umgewandelt. Erst 1954 erwarb eine privatrechtliche Gesellschaft die damals ruinöse Anlage, die sie in der Folgezeit restaurieren liess Erhalten sind die Kirche, das 60 m lange Laienbrüder-Gebäude (das wohl am besten erhaltene in Frankreich) und der Eingangsbau aus der Gründungszeit. Die übrigen Gebäude stammen aus der Zeit um 1650. Vom Kreuzgang sind nur Spuren erhalten. Der Südflügel der Klausur liegt in Ruinen.

Cette tour ronde se dresse toujours au milieu du "Parc des Forges", entourée d'un double fossé aujourd'hui comblé, seul vestige d'un château féodal construit au XVe siècle, Les ravages de la guerre de 100 ans ont contribué à sa destruction. Il reste très peu d'éléments pour retracer son histoire, et le mystère de la tour n'en devient que plus grand. Appelée la "Tour Eugène Sue" après une anecdote de la tradition locale (l'écrivain Eugène Sue -1804-1857- aurait écrit son roman "Le Juif errant" au premier étage de cette tour, transmettant ensuite ses écrits à son journal par la diligence de Paris). ******** THIS IS ALL WHAT REMAINS OF THE CASTLE... it is only a memory today. This round tower still stands in the middle of the park, surrounded by a double moat now filled in, the only vestige of a feudal castle that was built in the 15th century. The ravages of the 100-Years-War contributed to its destruction. There are very few elements left to retrace its history, and the mystery of the tower becomes all the greater. Called the "Eugène Sue Tower" after an anecdote from the local lore (the writer Eugène Sue -1804-1857- would have written his novel "The Wandering Jew" on the first floor of this tower, then forwarding his writings to his journal by the diligence of Paris)..

L'abbaye du XIIe siècle fut pillée et en partie incendiée par les calvinistes au milieu du XVIe siècle. Elle a continué à exister, jusqu'à ce que la Révolution française la réduise à un tas de ruines et dissémine les membres existants. Après sa vente en tant que bien national, elle est devenue une carrière de pierre, la population des alentours se livre au pillage des bâtiments, et le logis abbatial est incendié. Il ne serait probablement plus rien resté aujourd'hui de cette très importante abbaye cistercienne si au milieu du XIXe siècle Arcisse de Caumont (historien et archéologue) n'était pas intervenu en achetant les ruines dont cette "Porte Saint Louis" (porte romane du réfectoire) est classée Monument Historique en 1924. Une maquette présentée sur le site permet de se rendre compte de la grandeur de l’ensemble abbatial (voir 1° PiP en haut à droite). ********** GRADIOSE RUINS. The 12th-century abbey was looted and partly burned down by Calvinists in the mid-16th century. It continued to exist, until the French Revolution reduced it to a heap of ruins and scattered the existing members. After its sale as a national asset, it became a stone quarry, the surrounding population looted buildings and the abbey house was set on fire. Nothing would probably have remained today of this very important Cistercian abbey if in the middle of the 19th century Arcisse de Caumont (historian and archaeologist) had not intervened by buying the ruins of which the "Porte Saint Louis" (Romanesque door of the refectory) is classified as a Monument History in 1924. A model presented on the site gives an idea of the size of the abbey complex (see 1st PiP top right).

Cette sculpture en inox de 8m de haut est fabriquée par le carrossier du village pour un spectacle. Ensuite elle est installée au bord de la route à la vue de tous. PEGASUS WITHOUT WINGS. This 8m high stainless steel sculpture is made by the village coachbuilder for a performance. Then it is installed by the side of the road for all to see. PEGASOS OHNE FLÜGEL. Diese 8 m hohe Edelstahlskulptur ist vom Karosseriebauer des Dorfes für ein Schauspiel angefertigt. Danach wird es am Strassenrand installiert, damit alle es sehen können.

The "Gorges de Villiers", are an exceptionally wild and rugged landscape in the forest of Andaine/Normandy (see PiP). Many legends are attached to it, it is even said that it was the birthplace of Sir Lancelot du Lac, Knight of the Round Table of King Arthur! About 5000 m2 were devastated by an undergrowth fire in 2016. 5 ans après l'incendie. Les "Gorges de Villiers" sont un paysage exceptionnellement sauvage et accidenté dans la forêt d'Andaine/Normandie (voir PiP). De nombreuses légendes s'y rattachent, on dit même que c'était le lieu de naissance de Sir Lancelot du Lac, chevalier de la Table Ronde du Roi Arthur! Environ 5 000 m2 sont ravagés par un incendie de sous-bois en 2016. 5 Jahre nach dem Brand. Die "Schluchten von Villiers" sind eine außergewöhnlich wilde und raue Landschaft im Wald von Andaine/Normandie (siehe PiP). Viele Legenden hängen daran, es wird sogar gesagt, dass es der Geburtsort von Sir Lancelot du Lac war, dem Ritter der Tafelrunde von König Arthur! Etwa 5.000 m2 wurden 2016 durch einen Unterholzbrand zerstört.
