The old village is nestled on its hill and at its foot the mill district; so village at the top, river at the bottom (1st PiP) ... The history of Sainte-Suzanne was also made over the water and at the slow pace of these many mills in the Erve valley. "LES PIEDS DANS L'EAU". Le vieux village est nichée sur sa colline et à son pied le quartier des moulins; donc village en haut, rivière en bas (1° PiP)... L'histoire de Sainte-Suzanne s'est aussi faite au fil de l'eau et au rythme lent de ces nombreux moulins dans la vallée de l'Erve. "DIE FÜSSE IM WASSER". Das alte Dorf liegt auf seinem Hügel und an seinem Fuss schmiegt sich das Mühlenviertel; also Dorf oben, Fluss unten (1. PiP) ... Die Geschichte von Sainte-Suzanne wurde auch über dem Wasser und im langsamen Rhythmus dieser vielen Mühlen im Erve-Tal geschrieben.

Sa célèbre histoire remonte au siège infructueux de Guillaume le Conquérant entre 1083 et 1086. AN ABSOLUTELY INAVOIDABLE HIGHLIGHT. Ein charmanter Ort, an dem so viele "Mère Denis" aus Quintin die Familienwäsche gerieben, eingeseift, geschlagen und gespült haben... Für Nicht-Franzosen: "Mère Denis" war eine alte Dame, die 1972 zum Wahrzeichen der Waschmaschinenmarke Vedette wurde. Sie drehte bis 1980 mehrere Werbespots .

Built from the 15th-18th C. it includes two towers and is the only remaining gate of the old city wall of Quintin. Known as the "Archive Tower", it was rebuilt in the 18th century to house the archives. The "Turret roof" dates from this period, but the base of the tower retained its original structure. LA "PORTE NEUVE" EST LA PLUS ANCIENNE (15-18ème s.). elle comprend deux tours et est la seule porte restante de l'ancienne muraille de la ville de Quintin. Connue sous le nom de "Tour des archives", elle a été reconstruite au 18ème s. pour abriter les archives. Le toit à poivrière date de cette époque, mais la base de la tour conserve sa structure d'origine. DAS "NEUE TOR" IST DAS ÄLTESTE (15.-18. Jh.), es umfasst zwei Türme und ist das einzige verbliebene Tor der alten Stadtmauer von Quintin. Bekannt als "Archivturm", wurde es im 18. Jh. umgebaut, um die Archive unterzubringen. Das "Tourelle-Dach" stammt aus dieser Zeit, aber die Basis des Turms behielt seine ursprüngliche Struktur.

L'imposante fontaine "Notre-Dame de Lorette" est un lieu de pélerinage rénommé. L'édifice du XVe siècle protège la source, connue pour ses propriétés miraculeuses (en particulier pour soulager les maux d'oreilles). THE MIRACULOUS FOUNTAIN. That's what Binic is called in tourist brochures. Its marina, accessible only at high tide, offers 500 berths afloat including some inshore fishing boats. Son port de plaisance, accessible seulement à marée haute, propose 500 places à flot dont quelques bateaux de pêche côtière. Der nur bei Flut zugängliche Yachthafen bietet 500 Liegeplätze über Wasser, darunter einige Küstenfischerboote.

Found during a hike, a little retreated from the road, between lush vegetation, a sort of bewitched house... Still in quite good condition but abandoned, not yet depraved but deserted. What a pity! NB : on the door is noted "come in without knocking". PORTE VINTAGE. Découvert lors d'une randonnée, un peu en retrait de la route, entre une végétation luxuriante, une sorte de maison ensorcelée ... Encore en bon état mais abandonnée, pas encore dépravée mais déserte... Quel dommage. NB: sur la porte est noté "entrez sans frapper". VINTAGE TÜR. Entdeckt während einer Wanderung, ein wenig von der Strasse zurückgezogen, zwischen üppiger Vegetation, eine Art verzaubertes Haus ... Immer noch in recht gutem Zustand, aber verlassen, noch nicht verkommen, aber verwaist. Wie schade ! NB: An der Tür steht "Kommt rein ohne zu klopfen".

Après le retable de la chapelle St Eustache , voici le maître-autel (17ème s.) avec une structure tripartite à la fois horizontale et verticale ainsi que la présence d’une balustrade en marbre entre l’entablement et les niches supérieures. Son originalité tient à la présence de stalles en bois du 16ème s. (voir PiP), ornées de têtes (dont une de cochon), les accoudoirs sont des têtes d’oiseaux, et au dos on voit un décor végétal (feuilles de chêne, guirlandes de feuilles). Seine Originalität beruht auf dem Vorhandensein von Holzbänken (sogenannte Stände) aus dem 16. Jh. (siehe PiP), die mit Köpfen (einschließlich eines Schweins) verziert sind. Die Armlehnen sind Vogelköpfe, und auf der Rückseite sieht man Pflanzendekorationen (Eichenblätter, Blättergirlanden).

The exceptional altarpiece in the Saint-Eustache chapel of the Saint-Protais-Saint-Gervais church, surprising for its architectural quality and its symbolic significance, is one of the oldest preserved in Mayenne (1530). Quotes in Latin evoke death, and the skull that adorns the center of the altar gives the altarpiece a macabre meaning. LE CRÂNE VOUS GUETTE... L'exceptionnel retable de la chapelle Saint-Eustache de l’église Saint-Protais-Saint-Gervais, surprenant par sa qualité architecturale et sa portée symbolique est l’un des plus anciens conservés en Mayenne (1530). Des phrases en latin évoquent la mort, et le crâne qui orne le centre de l’autel donnent au retable une signification macabre. DER SCHÄDEL BEOBACHTET EUCH.... Das aussergewöhnliche Altarbild in der Saint-Eustache-Kapelle der Saint-Protais-Saint-Gervais-Kirche, das durch seine architektonische Qualität und seine symbolische Bedeutung überrascht, ist eines der ältesten in der Mayenne (1530). Sätze in lateinischer Sprache zitieren den Tod, und der Schädel, der die Mitte des Altars schmückt, verleiht dem Altarbild eine makabere Bedeutung.

Montesson Castle (14th - 17th C.) is surrounded by a moat and consists of an entrance gate from the 16th C., the old medieval residence and the main building built in the 17th C. The entrance pavilion is remarkable for its roof which is curved in opposite directions on all four sides, the granite facade adorned with the family coat of arms of the Montesson family and a round onion dome with a slate roof. LE CHATEAU DE LA BELLE AU BOIS DORMANT ? Le château de Montesson (XIVe au XVIIe siècles) est entouré de douves et se compose d'un châtelet d'entrée du XVIe siècle, de l'ancien logis seigneurial médiéval et du corps principal construit au XVIIe siècle. Le pavillon d'entrée est remarquable par son toit en contrecourbes sur les quatre côtés, sa façade en granit ornée des armes de la Famille de Montesson ainsi que sa tour ronde à bulbe à la couverture d'ardoise. DORNRÖSCHENSCHLOSS ? Schloss Montesson (14. - 17. Jh.) ist von einem Wassergraben umgeben und besteht aus einem Eingangstorhaus aus dem 16. Jh., der alten mittelalterlichen Residenz und dem im 17. Jh. erbauten Hauptgebäude. Der Eingangspavillon ist bemerkenswert für sein an allen vier Seiten gegenläufig gekrümmtem Dach, die mit dem Familienwappen der Familie Montesson geschmückte Granitfassade sowie einem runden Zwiebelturm mit Schieferdach.
