... das war die Ringeltaube (Columba palumbus), die wegen ihrer Körpergröße und den beiden weißen Flecken links und rechts am Hals recht leicht erkannt werden kann. Heute ist diese Taube nicht nur in Wäldern, sondern auch in Siedlungen, Parks und Gärten anzutreffen. Die Ringeltaube zählt zu den häufigsten Vögeln Mitteleuropas und wird deshalb in vielen Ländern (auch Deutschland) bejagt. Gelegentlich wird die Ringeltaube mit Stadttauben verwechselt. Stadttauben sind aber in der Regel verwilderte Haus- oder Brieftauben.
