La Corbière Lighthouse
This lighthouse, the only lighthouse on the Channel Island of Jersey, poses problems for people like me, Inasmuch that there are just too many great viewpoints of it. I took loads of photographs in the couple of hours of being there but if I had the chance to return in the golden hour, a stormy day or when there is snow or ice then it might take a lifetime to satisfy my photographic instant love for it and its surroundings. Here is a capture that tries to justify why it is here in the first place, being surrounded by vicious rocks that would tear any approaching boat apart in seconds. Its main job however is to steer ships safely to the main harbour of St Helier just a few sea miles away.
La Corbière is significant as the first lighthouse in the British Isles built of concrete, completed in 1874
Essential full screen

This is a very impressive looking lighthouse situated in wonderful surroundings. I love the rocky foreground and the light is really lovely. The blue sky and sea are the icing on the cake, so to speak.
A cracking shot sir! ⭐️
We all have places such as this which we desire to photograph in all seasons,
added to www.ipernity.com/group/uk-coastline-and-beaches with thanks!
