This beautiful and massive limestone outcrop is a real treat when looking at it over the sea from a distance but up close as here in Calp it shows its real beauty. It climbs to 332 metres asl which at 1086ft is approx the same height and steepness here as The North face of Eiger!

A rather artistic view taken well above lake Louise, almost at the Lake of St Agnes. Part of the Banff National Park. A view to linger over and simply enjoy.

Lake Agnes

16 May 2016 7 4 423
Otherwise know as 'Lake in the Clouds'. High above Lake Louise, we arrived here mere minutes before these delightful reflections were to disappear for the day. As can be seen, we are above the snow line and ice still covers most of this lake. The first 'tea house' of this national park stands close but unfortunate for us we had no time to explore nor sample it. The lake was so called 'Lake in the Clouds by the 'Stoney Indians'. The present name stems from two famous lady visitors: Agnes Knox -the first white woman to visit the lake and then Lady Agnes Macdonald, wife of Canada's first prime minister who visited a few days later.

For a big lake fed by such snow and ice, I am amazed that this was the only river out. Not withstanding, still a splendid view point.

A Calp view

05 May 2018 8 12 331
The water plops and gurgles around this pool as I gaze towards the Spanish town of Calp and its impressive rock. Behind me I hear the clunk of glasses as tourist take a seat outside the little headland café and the take in the same view.

Winter comes to the Sierra Bernia

Now this is South Spain -it rarely if ever sees snow but here it is lying on the mountains just behind our apartment here at Cap Negret, Altea. Taken in the Golden Hour, giving this shot that little extra. Enjoy large.

Penon de Ifach at sunset

Taken from just north of Altea at Cap Negret on the Costa Blanca, Spain. Shortly after the warm light on the distant mountain rocks soon faded as night descended.

Tatra Mountains vista

13 Jun 2018 18 27 451
Taken from a horse-drawn wagon on its way through the Rybi Potok Valley and the famous Morskie Oko lake in the Tatra National Park, Poland. As can be seen low cloud obscured a lot of the mountain skyline but this peak stood out for me, just for a few seconds. Enjoy PiP

Light and shade at Zakopane

Taken from the top of Gubałówka reached by the funicular, at the edge of the town. Zakopane is a resort town in southern Poland, at the base of the Tatras Mountains. It’s a popular departure point for winter sports and summertime mountain climbing and hiking.

Little Switzerland perhaps

It is actually a view from just above the North West banks of our Lake Windermere near Wray Castle. The mountain crags are, I believe the Langdale Pikes. Now where are those cow-bells...
