The Petronas Towers

19 Mar 2014 5 5 661
No trip to Malaysia, Kuala Lumpur is complete without looking up to these massive twin towers with their connecting skybridge. Enjoy

The Langdale Pikes

23 Feb 2016 28 18 354
A golden oldie should be seen now and again and so here is one of my 2016 captures previously in Panoramio. Our English Lake District shown at its most dramatic here from near Elterwater. Of course for me the late sun hitting the rocks complimented by snow on the distant peak of the distant peak is pure magic. We see here: Harrison Stickle with the snow then Loft Crag, Pavey Ark and Pike o’ Stickle Have a great day.

Red tin roof at Oldshoremoor Bay

31 May 2014 25 19 276
Looking towards Oldshoremoor Bay in the Scottish Highlands North West coast. A reminder of our trip to the far north of Scotland in 2014. These distinctive old farm buildings dotted the landscape around here. One from my Panoramio collection and a reminder too of just how many of our holidays were in grey wet weather. Enjoy the day. The ancient Whitby Abbey

26 Apr 2014 47 46 686
Reminded by our Ipernity friend Rosalyn Hilborne and her excellent photos of Whitby and its Abbey, I revisited my old Panoramio photos of the same subject. Here is one taken in 2014 set in an atmospheric monochrome in an attempt to add the feeling of age and perhaps conjure up images relating to Bram Stoker’s Dracula. The Abbey was a 7th-century Christian monastery that later became a Benedictine abbey. The abbey church was situated overlooking the North Sea on the East Cliff above Whitby in North Yorkshire. Repairing the nets.

The lovely Scottish Highlands

03 Jun 2014 22 23 305
Another golden oldie here from June 2014. We have had a great day out exploring and walking around this north west corner of Scotland, having explored the Oldshoremore and Sandwood Bay area and so we are on our way back to our holiday caravan site at Durness. As we drive the 35km + road back we pass numerous glens and highland scenes, this is but only one. I believe we are driving through Strath Dionard and it is the River Dionard that we see here. Enjoy full screen.

Beach Canter

30 Jul 2016 24 31 305
Back in the summer of 2016 we explored the Lincolnshire coast area. Here we are just to the east of the village of Alford and north of Skegness. A grey day, as it is often here and like much of this coast now, dotted with windfarms. Looks like a good place to go for a canter on the soft sand that horses seem to love. Nice full screen, enjoy the day.

A view from Essex

30 Jul 2014 16 14 375
Here is a photo from 2014, taken near the village of Bradwell-on-Sea. The star of the show undoubtedly is ‘The Chapel of St Peter-on-the-Wall’. It is a Christian church dating from the years 660-662 and among the oldest largely intact churches in England. It is in regular use by the nearby Othona Community, in addition to Church of England services. It is a Grade I listed building. See PiP Nice full screen, enjoy the day.

A ride in Dunwood park

02 Jan 2023 26 19 412
A rare walk along this natural local park gives a glimpse of our late autumn even into this start of the new year. It’s a cool 2C but the sunrays are warming the left side of the trees so they give of a magical mist. Along with a bit of lens flare perhaps (I’m using my old lens), it all adds up to an interesting scene –I think. Enjoy the day.

Time to go home.

In these local days of darkness and rain its time to look forward to more holidays! ~ Taken in Spain in winter! ~ Have a good day.

Essex fences

29 Jul 2014 28 52 325
Another 2014 shot taken near Bradwell-on-Sea in the south eastern county of Essex. Nice full screen. This again is the Blackwater estuary. The fences are used to control and stem tidal erosion. See PiP Enjoy the weekend.

Wet seat

16 Feb 2015 24 33 370
A 2015 trip to Cyprus brought us in the vicinity of Larnaca. Here is its Salt Lake, not far from the airport. As can be seen the water is slightly higher than normal and so no sit down for a picnic today. A drifting colony of pink flamingos can just be seen in the distance. See PiP. Enjoy full screen Have a great day. My thanks to Keith Burton for pointing our that these were not pelicans as I first described them as, but flamingos.

Winter walk at Strinesdale reservoir

10 Mar 2023 12 7 259
A band of cold air brings new snow to our area. This is the most I have seen here this year so far and so it allows me to go for a local walk. The trees looked good to me even without the added sunshine. Twenty four hours later and most of this has already gone.

A walk in the snow

A band of cold air brings new snow to our area. This is the most I have seen here this year - so far and so it allows me to go for a local walk with the camera. The trees looked good to me even without the added sunshine. Twenty four hours later and most of this has already gone. The Pip shows a shot from just around the corner. See adjacent photo for full size. Enjoy the weekend.

A walk in the snow 2

10 Mar 2023 22 14 447
Another capture from our show day just 48 hours ago. A different look to this as the snow was still falling and the skies very grey. ~ Today all the snow is almost gone as the temperature rises to a balmy 8c. Enjoy full size.

A winter at Strinesdale

10 Mar 2023 39 38 448
A snowy walk to our closest reservoir brings me onto what we call the high path. Here we have a few seats but as you see, not really serviceable after heavy snow and winds. Enjoy the day.

Winter in Austerlands

10 Mar 2023 28 30 293
A view from the top of Strinesdale reservoir towards the hamlet of Austerlands. As can be seen, much of our ancient drystone walls still exist up here. This is horse and sheep country. Enjoy full screen and have a great day
