Whitby West pier explored.

Whitby West pier explored.
When one walks to the end of this oak pier, we find there is a ladder going underneath to an almost secret walkway, a spot inhabited by fishermen in bad weather. Here we see a view from there in monochrome, befitting this historic town. The tower seen here is the West Pier lighthouse, built in 1831 and occasionally opened to the public.

What a great discovery!

Your composition is spot on Herb.............I love the curve of the pier and the long shadows from the uprights. The light is lovely and you've captured the textures and detail beautifully. I love the way you've framed the lighthouse too. Mono was definitely the way to go.

Two super PiPs as well............the first is my favourite of the two - with fantastic light, details and shadows.

Super Image Herb like the composition the shadows and the lighthouse and a nice set of pips . I have not got a single photo of the under of the pier will have to put that right later this year ???.

Nice to see you here again. Yes, the ladder down is not very obvious. I tried a lot of angles to get that lighthouse in the right position. Glad you approved.
