Sowerby Bridge Basin

Sowerby Bridge Basin
Another look at the Calder & Hebble Navigational canal. this time we see the canal basin - the place where canal boats and barges can be moored long stay. Normally at least one boat yard is also present, so a place where one can bring your craft for repairs and service. We see here also the old worn-out shiny cobbled tow path where many years ago now, horses would pull the working boats along the canal. I am lucky on this day that the water is so still, allowing such fine reflections.

Enjoy

David I wish.......... I have a 10 year old Volvo which I bought secondhand about 2 years ago. They must have seen me coming..............in the last two years I've spent a fortune on having faults fixed (mainly sensor-related problems), but now the gear box is broken. It's in the garage at the moment but if the estimate for repairs is too high I'll cut my losses and simply scrap it! I can't afford to throw more money at it.......................

Thanks a lot Keith -almost did not answer this after seeing all the paperwork before me here. Great again that you enjoyed this. As you know, I often look for an overhang to frame my pictures and the towpath was a real bonus here. - your car - maybe we should all get rid!
I tried to sell my beautiful 14 year old Passat this Summer but was offered a pittance and so I kept it and have since spent nearly what I was asking for it, just to keep it on the road for another 6-12 months -but I hardly use it. Only 80K done altogether on the 2L diesel. I have a feeling that when I want to use it for real -it may well let me down.

Keep snapping anyway - Herb

Good to see you Dave. You know our canals well too and so this spot might well be familiar to you. Some good TV documentaries about the canals at the moment.

Cheers, Herb
