Seen by the Leeds-Liverpool canal at Pennington Flash.

Thompson Dagnall Sculptor: "Unlocked is a book holding the secrets and stories of the canals.
I aim to use the physical presence of the lock gates to stimulate each traveller’s memories of the canals and hint at the vast library of tales yet to be unearthed.
The sculpture will dominate the viewer and give a taste of the feeling of entering a lock.
The aim of this sculpture is to capture the essence of the canals in an up close and personal way."

Thanks Toz. Yes these were taken just at the side but higher than the Pennington Flash lakes. The canal, by itself was pretty interesting but added to the wildlife of the lakes it made the whole thing wonderful. Glad you liked them.

Amazing shots of the old lock gates.............and good to get two different perspectives. The detail in the main image is fantastic. I especially like the rusty ironwork

I particularly like the PiP showing the canal bridge - It's beautifully composed and the light is really lovely, particularly where it's reflected on the water and the distorted reflection of the bridge itself is brilliant.

You've done a cracking job of these Herb. I hope you're enjoying the weekend. We''ll be finishing off the preparations for the arrival of my daughter and the grandchildren on Monday and doing some last minute shopping.

Good to see you again Keith and especially nice that you liked this series. I was holding the bridge one back to add it as a solo later but it matched here OK. (That one would have also made a nice HFF photo perhaps). I did not know the story about these vertical lock gates before doing some research for this posting.
Just a bit of company for Xmas lunch for us and lots of visitors today as it is Eileen's birthday. Other than that its business as usual. -Wishing for some cold frosty/snowy photographic weather now.
