Removing a speeding white van from the village.

Removing a speeding white van from the village.
Saturday Self Challenge: Long exposure.

It would have been good to have a Neutral density filter in front of the lens and place the camera on a tripod! The shutter speed I used was 0.5.

I converted the photo into B&W and used the ND filter in SilverEffex to darken the photo a fraction.

Using a longer shutter speed, the white van disappeared totally, as did most of the rest of the photo. ;-)

The PIPs show a colour version and an inverted image.

Ha ha ha! =D Funny! I chose twilight (evening) for the same reason of not having ND filter to get long enough shutter times. I suppose I should buy a ND filter some day, to get those cool long exposure daytime pictures done.

You did well considering you had no ND filter to work with; excellent effort, Amelia :-)

Sometimes a polarizing filter can help too if you don't have an ND fillter.

I like all 3 images. The inverted one is really spooky lol.

Great job, Amelia!

Great job Amelia . I don't have an ND filter either. We use what we have and that makes it even more ingenious .

i like this in black and white - and having the in focus center be so old, i like that feeling of time passing ( the vehicle blur) yet the stone stays strong.

You have to hurry to get this bus !
Oh yes, it needs a lot of time to experiment with long exposure ... best, you wait for a bad, grey day, or the early evening hours .... brings better colours, and you don`t need a ND-filter.

Thank you, Heidi. The amazing thing I found out is that one can see through vehicles. ;-)

The disappearing speeding vehicles are really cool! I like the spooky looking inverted version a lot.
I'm having the same problem with long daylight exposure times, so I just bought a set of ND filters and will have to try them out...
