I am enjoying this series very much ... and cannot help asking if the name Jacka means anything to you?
I suspect your time might have been between the father and the son (whom I knew).
My connection is slow (roll on the NBN) so it is taking me a while to explore as much as I want.

Thank you for dropping by and for your kind comment. Yes, I fully agree about the need for the NBN (for those outside Australia, an international-standard internet connection being introduced here). I was, as you suspect, some years in the middle between the two: Fred in the early days and Jo following. Sadly, the " Phil Law Years" have largely been written out of the history and I'd like to think my photos help to fill that gap.

This is a valid historical documentation in itself. !

Much of the emotions and feelings come across. Thankyou for sharing these.. its been a privilege to see them.

And heck.. I have a groaning fragile connection at best !!!! Things dont and wont change !

Thank you for your kind comments Pam. The frequently poor connection quality/ download speed is one of the reasons I keep to small photo sizes on the internet.

An excellent album, thank you for sharing this personal history of something that few will ever get to experience. I enjoy the old slides, I can only imagine how challenging it was to develop them.

Thank you for your visit and comment. Most of the slides were commercially developed (Kodachrome) after our return, but we processed our Ektachrome down there - digital is so much easier!

I do envy your long stay in Antarctica, the scans are marvellous! Mawson doesn't have as many "neighbours" as the stations on the Antarctic peninsula- the nature is really overwhelming!
A dutch photo friend from Panoramio spent the winter of 1973 at Marambio, some things looked pretty similar:-)
BTW - one of the expedtion team on my 2007 Antarctica trip was a tiny Australian marine biologist (Megan) who also spent a winter at Mawson!

Thank you very much for this comment, Gudrun, and my apologies, I hadn't looked here (for at least 5 years) and missed it until now.

Very interesting and full of adventures, George, and like you say totally worth preserving, not only the images but your recollections as well. It's great you made it into a book.
