Black Kites

Black Kites
Black Kites were common while far inland, usually circling in groups over some food source. More images in the PiPs. Despite the name, these seem to be mainly a russet colour. They have a wingspan of about 52cm.

Many thanks, Aus Blue. Actually this was taken with a "bridge camera" a Lumix FZ1000. Not very different in size from a DSLR, but the built-in lens goes from 35 to 400mm equivalent. Very handy for travelling, as it avoids the huge bulk of some DSLR lenses for similar results.

Fabulous shots George. The black kites are beautiful and remind me of the red kites we saw in Scotland but I never managed shots like these. Beautifully captured with lovely sharp detail
