I won't claim this is my best bird image, but I was delighted to capture this long range shot of an uncommon Rose Robin.

A few words of clarification are needed here. The birds in Australia known as "Robins" (there is a range of about 15 species in the family) were given that name by the European colonists because they are small birds with coloured fronts. They are unrelated to and totally different from the European Robins - putting it in ornithological terms, in Australia they are from the Petroica family, those in Europe are Erithacus rubecela.

Eso te iba a decir George, que ese petirrojo no tiene el color y tono habitual, rojo anaranjado. Además tampoco tiene cubiertas la garganta y la frente con el mismo color, como el petirrojo. Pensé que podría ser una variedad australiana, pero por lo que dices tampoco allí es normal. Suele haber variaciones, albinos... Otra cosa, el Robin es confiado y se deja acercar mucho y dices que a este le fotografiaste de lejos.
