They have created a special area, with a giant crane, for unloading and dismantling them. I think it probably makes the process easier by giving more access, Annalia.

sad to see it go history can never be replaced. HFF hope you keep yourself away from the new delta Covid like we are trying to.

Gute Idee, die Kräfte der Natur zu nutzen. Schade, dass die alte Brücke entfernt wird, aber vermutlich braucht man mehr Höhe für größere Schiffe.

Interestingly, when the lifting span of the old bridge which was made to suit the coastal steamer traffic was raised, it gave more clearance than the new bridge. We no longer have coastal steamers, just a little tourist boat up the river daily. The main reasons for the new bridge are that it has 4 lanes for vehicle traffic, while the old one had only two, plus needing less maintenance.
