There goes the ISS

There goes the ISS
The International Space Station put on a particularly fine showing tonight, passing right overhead. There was just a little thin broken cloud, which may explain the brightness variations.

Christina Sonnenschein, , , and 4 other people have particularly liked this photo

AWESOME!!!!! *bounces up and down joyfully pointing up at the sky* SO COOL!!!! :D
Steve and I watched it pass by one night, it's amazing how FAST that sucker travels over the sky! We were truly stunned by the show. Just so incredible and mind-blowing to see this, and you got a picture!!! CLEVER BOY!!! :D Steve wants to give that a try the next time it's in our sky when we're awake and it's night time! (Do you have that notification set up too? Steve gets alerts anytime it will be visible! :)

Nice job and thanks for sharing!! I think everyone should make the effort to see this because it's one of those things that truly makes you say WOW WOW WOW!! There's absolutely no mistaking that it's an object in the sky that's not a plane and it's in space! SO COOL! :)

Thanks so much for your kind comments, Janet. Yes, the ISS is in a fairly low orbit so it really does cover the sky quickly. When we lived in the bush we often watched satellites on a clear night (more exciting than the TV:)). I'd highly recommend that anyone interested visit this site for satellite and astronomical information: www.heavens-above.com . If you want to be really bowled over, look for a bright Iridium flare (I'll post an old shot, but hope for a better shot soon).
