You must take at least as many photos as I do Rosa. Every day something else. Another fine example of your roving eye here. A nice bit of history -of which I can hardly think what it must have been like locked up in there. Well done.

Keep safe. Herb

Probably not quite as many as you Herb, haha! Those locked up were probably so drunk that they were thankful for a place to sleep it off ;-) It is quite near the local Inn!!
Thank you as always for your kind comments. Take care ~ Rosa.

Oooh what a lovely little building.....................I bet if it could talk it would have some brilliant stories to tell..!! I wonder what the council are using it for nowadays?

I really like the detail in the stonework and the old wooden door and the colours are quite beautiful.

I hope you're enjoying the weekend.

Rosalyn Hilborne club has replied to Keith Burton club
Yes I bet it could Keith! I haven't ever seen it being used for anything. It will soon need a little care and attention I think. The door is beautiful and you can see inside through the small grill.

Thanks for your kind comments and I hope you have a good evening too.

A wonderful relic from the lawless past ! I would like to have a look in the one at Ticknall which has a fireplace, it's said that a lot of the clients came from a local pub where the landlady had a key and would let them out, if any pauper was found sleeping rough they would be put in for the night as it was a better option for them. I hope you are having a pleasant weekend Rosalyn

Rosalyn Hilborne club has replied to Peter Castell club
Thank you Peter. I would think that this lock-up was used in a similar way, with drunks unable to find their way home and given shelter for the night. I will have to look into it more.
Hope you are having a good weekend.

Buen domingo, Rosa.

Hi Rosa,
Now that is what I call a prison!!
A few years in there on bread and water, and that will teach them not to go sheep stealing again!! None of this "It's not his fault, society let him down.. " garbage we hear as excuses these days..!
I like it very much!!

Best Wishes, a good weekend, and keep safe!

I have never seen such a picturesque, cosy prison, if I may say so for such a place!
You really have a great eye at finding unusual historic buildings like this , dear Rosa!
i read in your previous answers this place was meant for people who got drunk..let's hope they were kept in such a small place for a short time...
Your images are always so well taken and interesting!
Enjoy your Sunday, my friend.
Rosalyn Hilborne club has replied to Adele club
Thank you so much for your generous comments dear Adele.
It is picturesque, but not sure I would want to be locked inside ;-)
They were used for any type antisocial behavior I think.
Can you imagine the outcry if we used them now!
Have a good new week my friend.
Best wishes.

An interesting little lock-up, Rosa. If not for the detail in the PiP, I'd have thought it older. At least it's been preserved.

I was also surprised that it was not older George.
It will soon need some attention, so I that has been noticed.
