One of my biggest regrets is that I have very few family photos..................those days people didn't have the convenience of phone and digital cameras obviously..............that's why photos like this are so precious and bring back so many memories!

A delightful photo of you and your brothers Rosa, and I like the PiPs too, what a great idea to take photos from the same spot. The scenery hasn't changed a great deal over the years and Chesil Beach is still just as beautiful.

That's a shame Keith. You must treasure the few you have. We were lucky that my father always had a camera around his neck. He also did wedding photography and portraits in his spare time. I used to love watching him develop the wedding negatives. I have hundreds of motorbike scramble pic's he took. I used to go to them with him.

Thank you for your kind comments on the pictures. When I took the PiP's in 2013 I had not seen this 1962 one, so that was just luck :-)) Yes, love Chesil Beach and that sound it made running over the huge pebbles!

You know, dear Rosa, I came across with so many old photos in these last trying months , too.
Memories of the past are sweet and a bit sad at the same time, like the beautiful picture showing you and your brothers. I like the idea of showing the same place , with such a great view... I love the contrast between the mono of the past and the colours of the present.

It is a lovely thing to do when we have some time, like now! They bring back so many memories that without the photo's may have been forgotten. As with you dear Adele, I have felt happy and sad at the same time now that my parents are no longer here. By the way, I have another brother and sister but they were too young to be in such a precarious position, as in this picture :-))

I see where you got your talent for photography from. It's a beautifully composed picture. Your father has caught lovely expressions. You look very pretty and as if you are lost in thought. I like your more recent shots too. The beach looks very much the same. Still unspoiled.

Aw that is very kind of you Jean. I probably was lost in thought as there were actually 3 brothers...a long time before I got a sister!! I still love to visit Portland and Chesil Bank. I look forward to the time I can take Sophie again!

How lovely to be be near enough an area like this and visit it on Sundays in summer. Your two brothers look alike but I don't see the semblance between you and them.

It was either Weymouth or Portland on a sunny summer Sunday Amelia.
These two brothers have my fathers colouring, but my 3rd brother and I are more alike. I don't look anything like my little sister though. She looks like dad's family but with mum's fair hair.

on the one hand the memory, always present, of a carefree and happy childhood of the blonde Rosa with her brothers on a beach that I immediately find, renewed in the coloured tones, but forever present in your current and fantastic vision, , ,, magnificent stretches of sand, sea and sky, empty, on a sunny day..
The nostalgia that takes us all, seeing those places of the heart even under a shining sun!!

Me too, you know ,in these days, I have taken back in my hands, trying to tidy them up, the old black and white photos of me and my family, anywhere but above all at the seaside.....

Thank you so much dear Bea. We had such good times going to the coast on Sundays. Chesil Beach has huge pebbles which make a wonderful sound as you climb them and when you get to the top, you hear the rushing of the waves dragging the pebbles out to sea. It was a great playground ;-)) At least this dreadful time has had it's bonuses and looking back at old photographs is one of them. I hope yours brought back happy memories as well.

Wonderful memories for you Rosalyn. B&W usually seem to stand the test of time better than colour which often seem to deteriorate. However you store them it is important to record who is in the photos, I have old photos that I have no idea who they are and there is no one who would know

Thank you Peter. My father used colour film when my much younger brother and sister came along, but I do like the b&w ones. I also have some of people that I wish I knew. As I have been going through the old ones, I have named everyone on the back.

Thank you very much. I am enjoying going through the old pictures, but have also shed a few happy tears! I often see old photos in charity shops and the like and wonder who they must have belonged to and why are they thrown away! I know my daughters will take care of our family picture.
