Great series Rosa, Love the shapes and shadows. Wonder which poor Jack Tar had the job of cleaning the outside of the glass.

Yes, I wonder Doug :) I loved all the outward leaning windows, but would neber want the job of cleaning them! I am pleased you like the series, thank you.
Best wishes, Rosa.

Beautiful interior shots Rosa...............perfectly exposed. It really is an amazing ship - I visited it many times whilst I was serving (the WO and Senior Rates bar was onboard), so this brings back some good memories.

Thanks for sharing.

Thank you very much Keith. Yes it is amazing. I am 5ft 3½ins and I had to stoop in the lower deck! That was handy, having a bar on board then ;-) I have a picture of a nearby pub that you may well know....I'll upload it later in the week.

Thanks for your kind comments and I am always pleased to bring back happy memories.

I suppose the angle of the windows had to fit into the shape of the vessel and possibly more storm resistant, a far cry from the conditions endured by the crew

Rosalyn Hilborne club has replied to Peter Castell club
None of the portholes that came much later Peter. More like house windows!
I certainly wouldn't have wanted to be one of the crew!

Lovely series beautifully photographed. Quite a domestic interior in spite of the outward leaning windows. Probably a much better workplace than most of the crew had.

Rosalyn Hilborne club has replied to Jean
Yes the windows were a big feature of the ship, not unlike house windows! The lower down you go the worse the conditions were Jean. Very cramped on the lowest deck.

Hi Rosa,

A different and beautiful series here!
The angle of windows show what a different ship it is...
I like it very much !!

Best wishes

So different to the ships we see nowadays!
I enjoyed looking around it very much, so I am pleased you like the series.

fantastic craftsmanship Rosalyn, I wander if this warship was so lavish when it set sail for Trafalgar in 1805.

Yes wonderful craftsmanship Maurice. The kitchen, or I should say, galley, was very small considering the size of the crew!

Thank you so much for your kind comments. I love history and it is now possible to look over the whole ship, whereas when I visited over 30 years ago, it was limited and we were shown around by a member of the Royal Navy.

Its almost beyond believe that the captains or in this case the Admirals cabin was so luxurious and spacious compared with the men sleeping near the bilges in these ships of the line. Altogether different, when joined in battle though. I have in fact been in here too but your photos are better! Well done. Herb

The lives of the ordinary seaman were, as you mention, pretty dire! Poor peoples lives were cheap in those days Herb. Many thanks for your interesting and kind comments. Cheers, Rosa.

Wow, what a large office he had, and what a view that must have been! As others have said, quite a contrast to how the ordinary seamen had to live...
