1973, Fall - In and around Washington, DC
A decomposing colonial-era building, near Middleburg, Virginia. I suspect that this is an 18th-century home, likely constructed with slave labor, that had been burned out and abandoned. Looking at this photo now, I realize the risk I had subjected the model to. A tree had sprouted in the interior of the building and a branch was both damaging the upper wall and holding the loose stones in place. Submitted to the VPTP for the theme, BROKEN OR DILAPIDATED.

Alan Mays, Smiley Derleth have particularly liked this photo

I'm very appreciative of stonework these days. Look at how beautiful it is, so irregular and yet perfect! It's not dry stone walling, but still so attractive.
And there's Mary exhibiting the quintessential early 1970s wear!

Yes, the quality of work is very impressive. I can't imagine the number of stones that must have been examined in order to find enough that could be worked into this building.
