We call it "St John's Wort".
Andy Rodker club has replied to raingirl clubBut you might have recalled it from the name of one of the daughters in Steinbeck's 'The Grapes of Wrath'. although (from memory) he spelt it as they would have pronounced it, 'Rosasharn'.

St John's Wort is the only way I know them! Thanks to comments, I've learned their botanical name and the English name - ha! I didn't realize how educational ipernity was!! *wink*
