A lifeboat cake for a 7-year-old grandson

Having seen a photo of a cake we had made for another grandson a few years ago, this was the theme our grandson wanted for his seventh birthday. It is a bit more elaborate than the previous one - www.ipernity.com/doc/philsutters/51550522/in/album/1329734 , but the current batch of grandchildren have got used to rather grander cakes - or as their grandmother, who bakes the delicious sponges at the heart of things, says - dioramas with a soft centre.
It is very loosely based on their local harbour - Newhaven in Sussex.

Thanks, John. Having decorated two cakes for his younger sister for the 20th, this was a bit of a rush job. It is all from scrap timber and cardboard, coated in the scrapings from the bottom of a tin of white primer with a small squirt of black acrylic mixed in. My only regret is that the light is a cheap flickering battery tea-light. I couldn't find a small LED with a slow flash, like the Newhaven light has. I was most pleased with the marbled effect I managed to get with the fondant icing for the waves.
