The Titanic finishes its journey - Newhaven 20 8 2023
As I attended events on the days on either side of the 19th, I didn't have time to get out on WPD. I took lots of photographs of the first four of the rafts taking part in this race, as they neared the finish line and the customary pelting with vegetables, stale bread and flour. The race is approximately seven miles long, along the Sussex Ouse, from Lewes to Newhaven.
I like the look of determination on the face of the man with the paddle. I would guess that he was the oldest of the crew, but wanted to put as much effort into helping the team finish fast as they could. They finished in second place. The fourth placed raft was the most colourful, of those I saw - www.ipernity.com/doc/philsutters/52077586/in/album/1289376. The other two are in adjoining images.
Photography can paint beautiful pictures, but in many ways capturing the moments and the personalities are more valuable attributes of the medium.

A moment in time. I agree that moments and personalities are very valuable parts of the medium of photography. And certainly the determination of the paddle man was needed to steer the Titanic! *smile*
