15 Vicar's Close Wells c1953

15 Vicar's Close Wells c1953
Uploaded for Vintage Photos Theme Park, distinctive house theme.
I lived here from 1953 for a couple of years. The street is reputed to be the oldest complete street, lived in continuously, in Europe. Built between 1348 and 1430 it was for people who worked in the adjacent cathedral. My Dad was on the staff there then.

Roger (Grisly), Smiley Derleth, arts enthusiast and 2 other people have particularly liked this photo

Great photo, and it sounds like a wonderful place judging by its Wikipedia write-up! St. Augustine, Fla., and Philadelphia, Pa., supposedly have the oldest streets in the U.S., but they only date to the 1600s and 1700s.

I still maintain that my red Foden Dinky Toys tanker is under the floor boards of my bedroom there. It certainly didn't make it to our next home out on Mendip. I had a secret hidey-hole under a loose section of floor-board.
