Anderton Lift Fences
The Anderton Boat Lift provided a link between the Trent and Mersey Canal and the R. Weaver to transfer salt from the mines of Cheshire to the R. Weaver for onward distribution. Built in 1875 it was closed due, unsurprising considering its main cargo, to corrosion in 1983. Restored in 2001-2002 it is now a scheduled monument main cargo being tourists!
Big Bro had passed it on the T&MC many times but with me on board decided that I would be his excuse for actually using it - I think he was too scared to go on his own ... we both loved it!
PiPs left to far right;
1. Entering the caisson.
2. The view down to the R. Weaver
3. The opposite piston
4. Just over halfway
5. Exit
HABLFF to all and have a great weekend!!

A superb series of images and it must have been quite an experience. I am not surprised you and your brother enjoyed it so much. Love the images in your PiPs but for me the main shot has to be my favourite, - impressive and beautifully captured
