What a magnificent specimen Keith! Actually all the trees in your picture look beautiful! They must like the Southsea sea air! autifully captured Scene.

Have a good and hopefully a little cooler weekend.

Thank you so much Rosa,............the council look after the whole of the common and the associated gardens very well and it's always worth looking round. Glad you like this view.

Have a good weekend yourself............I don't think it will get much cooler. Our current plan in to stay home on Sat and do a bit of gardening before the sun gets to hot. Sun is Father's Day, so we'll be out to lunch with my oldest daughter and her partner I expect.

And even more amazing because in Southern countries they are all dying from a bug infestation, in Monte Gordo there were dozens of them and now just a few left...

There are quite a few of these trees in Southsea, and they all seem to be thriving. Probably because the weather her becomes warmer each year!

So sad that you're losing your ones :-(

The magnificent date palm rightly takes centre stage, but it has a fine selection of trees as a backing group in this beautifully composed image Keith,
A terrific capture with fine detail and superb colours, a lovely common indeed !
Wish you a great weekend

The BBC radio is running a special few weeks to celebrate our favourite trees Keith. This surely would be in there with the best. Great capture here. Well done.

must be a special climate here ;-) wonderful!

Keith Burton club has replied to Berny club
It's right next to the sea Berny on the south coast, which tends to be quite warm compared with a lot of other places in the UK. There are about 15 of these palms here, planted back in 1996 as small trees, and I believe there are doing OK. Glad you like this one!

Eine beeindruckende und gleichzeitig unwirkliche Aufnahme! Es ist beachtlich, dass diese Palme sich so gut entwickelt hat. Sie profitiert von der Klimaerwärmung.

Many thanks Wilhelm................apparently there are around 15 of these in Southsea, planted back in 1996 as saplings. We're on the south coast near the sea, so it tends to be quite warm compared with a lot of other places in the UK.
