Thatched barn and bird hide, WWT Arundel, West Sussex. The hide overlooks the reed beds, part of which has recently been cleared in readiness for new growth.

Happy Fence Friday everyone. I hope you have a wizard weekend :-)

Lovely colours and it's great to see the thatched roof, while the bird hide certainly blends in well. HFF.

Oh....is it a celtic one, Keith? Looks like going back in time...for about 3000 years ;)
I love this..if I would live in the northern part of germany, I would have a thatched roof..for sure!

What a wonderful picture, Keith. The thatched roof is really beautiful and I don't think I've ever seen such a handsome bird hide. I love the autumn feel too. Nice shot and perfect for HFF as well. :)

Thanks so much for your comments about my snowy burned shack pictures! I was actually planning to make the snowy-capped screw my main image but my husband thought the bit of snow sticking to the plywood knot was more unusual and cool so I went with it! :) Glad you loved the abstract charred-wood abstract, I just love having the excuse to take pictures like that! :) And also, glad you enjoyed the pano, it was so colorful!

Finally, you're right, not many would go out to take pictures in such cold weather but you know as well as I do...some of the best rewards come to us when we bear a bit of discomfort for the potential of some nice pictures! :)

That roof has an impressive ridge. It rIvals the block ridges of East Anglia and the Cotswolds (and maybe other places -- shouldn't pretend I've done an exhaustive census of British thatch).

The photo itself is well composed, and I really like the colours.

I'm too late for HFF, but have a good weekend.

It is very wet all year round aNNa...............it's a reed bed and the water can be very deep in places. Even the bits you can walk on are very boggy! You definitely need rubber boots :-))

I like those dilapidated houses. Ivy conquers the barn.

Keith Burton club has replied to Susanne Hoy
Glad you like them Susanne. The one with the ivy on is actually the bird hide - it overlooks the reed beds. The barn (with the thatch) is used as a teaching and display area.
