I need to see some complete leaves to judge Jenny.
The Flowers do look like 'May' real name Hawthorne. It will have sharp thorns if it is.
The leaves when fresh and young can be eaten, we used to call them 'Bread and Cheese'
Generally they are white, at times with a faint pink edgeto some of the petals, there is a cultivated variety with red flowers.
The common bush is often used to create field bounderies or hedge rows.
May or Hawthorne in Autumn.

Thank you so much for trying to find out what this tree is called. It doesn't have berries like your picture, so I think we're still in the dark about this one

Yes I think you might just be right John, as I looked up Spirea on Google and images. I was going to say that it didn't look anything like my Spirea and I was really shocked to find out how many different kinds of Spirea there is. There is a kind of this plant which looks like this one, so I'll call it one until I'm told different!!!
