Messy Eaters

Messy Eaters
Supper time on the Somerset Levels, three of a group that must have been approaching a hundred and the noise that the beaks made as they fed was amazing.

Buena luz y color. Se meterán en esa tierra mucilaginosa... ¿Para comer o por refrescarse?

The light is just gorgeous. So noisy as well as messy eaters. It must have been wonderful to see and hear them.

Roger (Grisly) club has replied to Jean
Many thanks Jean, I did try to record the noise but the evening breeze combined with the swans feeding just made an indecipherable din.

There must be some rich pickings amongst all that scum Roger, a nice warm glow reflecting in the birds plumage.

Roger (Grisly) club has replied to HappySnapper
Indeed Maurice around 50 birds were frantically feeding in this large patch of weed which had blown down stream in the breeze and then became logged jambed by a narrow bridge.

This is a lovely image...........the light on the swans is gorgeous and they look remarkably cleans despite the mucky water!
Roger (Grisly) club has replied to Keith Burton club
Thank you Keith, normally swans are scattered around as we make our way across the levels but on this evening they were missing until we reached the North Drain and around a hundred were literally having a feeding frenzy

Astonishing how these proud, white birds can do this to themselves. It is just as disturbing as the graceful storks searching the rubbish dumps for food in their Spanish winter quarters.
Roger (Grisly) club has replied to Leon_Vienna club
Thank you Leon, something in the weed must have attracted them because they have come from all around the levels to feed, the area usually has only around twenty or thirty birds.
