A wonderful avenue of trees - worn down over the years. I really like the dappled shadows!

I love the way the road has sunk into the earth with use. Almost like a tunnel with the trees.

Can it be walked all the way to Lyme Roger? A beautiful tree lined old road with the vibrant new leaves!

Roger (Grisly) club has replied to Rosalyn Hilborne club
Many thanks Rosa, I suspect not they probably used the higher ground because back then most of the county was underwater

Interesting--still in use after all these centuries, but not a major thoroughfare either! Obviously it never got paved! ;)

Thanks Steve, Much of the county of Somerset is at or below sea level and back in the bronze age would have been under water, so roads had to use the high ground but as man managed to drain the land easier routes became available and these old routes fell out of use.

Hi Roger!
What a gorgeous image of this absolutely impressive ancient road: the secular trees bow in deep perspective almost to show the way to follow in an atmosphere of precious games of light and shadows and lovely shades of green!
