Shapes, volumes, messages - the fence is a relief from all that.

And I wonder where "post no bills" came from and why it's the accepted way to say "don't post bills" or "no bills" or just "don't post anything on fence."

An interesting point about the relief provided by the fence, Bob. I'll be looking for more examples.

And why "bills"? Your alternative is much clearer.

You are so good at catching the moment. The buildings make a wonderful pattern and I like the juxtaposition of the man and the Post No Bills notice. And he's actually talking on his phone which people don't do that much now. They walk along looking at the screen. Talking to another person ? What's that ?

Thank you, Jean. Toronto has had to put warning strips on the curb cuts at corners to keep people from wandering into the traffic. Where I am now nobody walks, so not so big a problem.

An impressive architectural image, underlined by the fence. The "Post No Bills" signs used to be reasonably common here, now it seems ages since I last saw one. Slightly belated HFF, have a great weekend.

Especially when no one pays attention to it, Diane. Of course, maybe that's why they don't pay attention -- they don't know what posting bills is.
