great photo of this place. great lighting - perfect angle.

this has always fascinated me. i was underwhelmed by this location when i was there, but there are some photos of it that make it seem wonderful (like yours). not sure why it didn't capture me when there.

For my part I think it is the historical perspective that strikes our perception most on this site, to which Parisians are of course most receptive.
On the one hand there is the rich and long history of the Louvre Palace itself, dating back to 1190. Then there is its recent history with its complete restoration, including the garden, which restored its splendour and its unique Parisian perspective (up to the Arc de Triomphe).
The pyramid was, although controversial, the icing on the cake, the final touch that intended to place the Louvre in the long perspective that links Egypt to the modern era - because of its vocation as a museum where antiquity, especially Egyptian one, occupies a large place.
A sort of vertiginous viewpoint that amazes and fulfils me personally every time I go there...
