Montague CA (#1510)
Cowboy statue in Montague, CA. Look closely and you'll see this isn't a typical statue based on a cast, but instead is sheets of metal bent and soldered into the form of a cowboy on a horse.

I agree, welding a statue from bent metal would seem to be more difficult than making a mold for a cast.

I have a cousin who became something of a regionally noted artist in Georgia doing this sort of sculpting. Most of his work was abstract stuff that made no sense to me, but every once in a while he'd do something like this. He's since moved on to wood.
