Lake Shasta CA (#1519)

Lake Shasta CA (#1519)
It may be a genetic defect on my part, but I can't understand the idea of being out for several days on a houseboat with multiple others, just lazing around on a reservoir. I'd be hollering "let me off" before we even pulled away from the dock.

You'd be in luck, because they almost never pull away from the dock.

Robin grew up around boat people, so she's a bit envious whenever she sees this sort of thing. I see the fourth level of Hell.

I'm glad to see I'm not the only one who sees this as water torture :) For me its probably related to not seeing fishing as fun, so spending hours on a boat that doesn't have a destination feels like being trapped.

"A lakeside cabin that drifts" is a good way to put it. We took a houseboat trip for a few days on Lake Mead back in '01 with my sister's family, when all the kids were 10-12, and remember the experience very fondly. Of course, (a) we had good weather; and (b) Lake Mead is big! We saw lots of places inaccessible by car.

The latter (inaccessible places) would be the main thing to me. I need to be able to stretch often, so would need to be constantly finding places on shore to explore.
