Ruins on the east side of Palmetto. The highway is NV-266. I had expected the highway to be largely empty due to the fact that there is very little population in the area. Though not busy, I encountered more cars than I expected. The road turns out to be the shortest distance for getting from Las Vegas to Mammoth Lakes.

It's _still_ a big improvement over 95, trafficwise!

I'm surprised people think it's faster than going up to Tonopah and taking 6 west over Montgomery Pass, either down to Bishop or (on CA SR 120) over to Lee Vining. The road thru Deep Springs Valley and Westgard Pass isn't very fast!

They probably don't think... when I checked, Google was giving it as the recommended route, which is probably why they were on it.
