FoKAB info vehicle in Winchester - 1 Jan 2004 (518-14A)
Thursday 1 January 2004 – ‘Friends of King Alfred Buses’ (FoKAB) Running Day at Winchester (and surrounding area)

‘Preserving King Alfred Buses and the memory of King Alfred Motor Services’ is the mission statement of the ‘Friends of King Alfred Buses’, a society and registered charity. KAMS was well known family business based in Winchester, Hampshire which was taken over by the National Bus Company subsidiary Hants & Dorset Motor Services Ltd in 1973. FoKAB owns a number of preserved former KAMS buses and coaches upon which free rides are offered at their running day each New Year’s Day. This vehicle (NKJ 849P) is a former ambulance used by FoKAB as their information point and it was seen here outside the Bus Station and close to the bus shelters on Broadway where KAMS buses once loaded under the watchful eye of the statue of King Alfred just visible above the bus in front. This posture was used on the logo of KAMS.
