Stort Valley Coaches THX 285S in Mildenhall - 8 Mar 1994

Tuesday 8 March 1994 – An unusual sighting in King Street lay-by in Mildenhall was Stort Valley Coaches of Bishops Stortford THX 285S which was on promotional work for Cambridge College. It is a Leyland FE30 (B20) Fleetline with MCW bodywork new to London Transport in November 1977 (fleet number DMS2285). The bus had two large vents on top of the engine cover housing, one into and one out of the engine compartment which were part of the ‘quiet package’ featured on these buses. Buses with this arrangement were slightly longer than the standard models at lower level although were the same length as the standards above the upper deck floor level.
