Thank you very much Amelia. Really appreciated. Yes it is sad. There have been several schemes over the years to repair it but they have all come to nothing. Even the lifeboat crew had to stop using as it was unsafe to get out to the lifeboat station at the end. HFF and have a lovely weekend

Weston does have another pier, the Grand Pier, which has been rebuilt is recent years as it had been destroyed by fire, but it is too modern and flashy for my taste. - I also remember this pier from many years ago.
For a long time the only people officially allowed on it were the lifeboat crew, but even they have left now. It is such a shame that it is left like this. As someone who "does restoration" I wish some rich - correction very rich - individual or group would get hold of the pier and rebuild it. Hastings, Southend and Weston's Grand Pier have all been updated after their fires, so maybe this one should be done up as it would have looked to the Victorians. Can hope, I suppose.

Great shot Eco, I suspect like a refurbished Eastbourne pier any upgrade must be sympathetic and compliment the needs of the local environment and community, It would be unlikely to allow say a rich American tycoon to come along a build a casino and hotel at the end.

Yes, very sad to see it broken and neglected but it is an ideal photographic subject, The diagonal line of the pier coming in from the bottom left corner makes for such a strong composition. Absolutely love the light and colours. Two well chosen musical choices that compliment the photo to perfection, Carol.
