Private residence means...no chance to get inside, Doug?
A really imposing castle and mausoleum....and I like the dark b/w.

Thanks for your visit and kind comment Tanja. Much of the main building (except the private residence) is open to the public, as are the extensive grounds and rose garden. The mausoleum is not accessible to the pubic, which is understandable. Several films and TV programmes, Including Brideshead Revisited, have been set at Castle Howard. In addition there are normally several concerts etc.(in the grounds) throughout the year, Covid 19 notwithstanding!

Beautiful B&W images of an amazing building and beautiful gardens. I remember visiting years ago. It made a big impression.

It is indeed an impressive place Jean and very popular. It is just a shame that an entire village was destroyed in order to build it!
