Die Ringeltaube, ein Kulturfolger - The wood pigeon, a cultural successor

In the meantime, the formerly rather rare and shy wood pigeon (Columba palumbus), normally a forest dweller, has adapted to humans as a cultural successor and is also frequently found in residential areas and gardens. It is often confused with the domestic pigeon.
The yellow spots on the branches are deposits of common orange lichen (Xanthoria parietina), which is now widespread throughout Europe, especially on deciduous trees.
