Ein Märchenwald - A fairytale forest
I found these magnificent oak trees on the height above the so-called Totengrund near Wilsede in the Lüneburg Heath (see PiP). Many hikers passing by stopped fascinated and photographed these trees. The oak tree on the half-right consists of at least 6 trunks. Such groups of trees are formed by many deciduous trees (i.e. also oaks) because the tree trunk can form several shoots again after being felled. This is how these multiple trunks can occur. Conifers (except yews) and beeches do not have this attribute.
