Das Opernhaus Zürich, mehr oder weniger im Zentrum der Stadt Zürich beim Sechseläutenplatz und direkt am Ufer des Zürichsees.
Es wurde am 1. Oktober 1891 eröffnet und bietet Platz für 1100 Personen.
Das Gebäude*, bis 1964 'Stadttheater' genannt, ist weitgehend baugleich mit dem Kroatischen Nationaltheater in Zagreb von 1894 und dem 1892 bis1894 errichteten Hoftheater in Wiesbaden (heute Hessisches Staatstheater Wiesbaden).
* Ursprünglich war das klassizistische Gebäude des Wiener Architektenbüros 'Fellner und Helmer' für Krakau geplant, dieser Bau wurde jedoch nicht realisiert.
