"Photograph your pet in black and white (or any animal/animals)."
I am against the confinement of animals in zoos
and the not species-appropriate attitude.
The monkey in my photo lives in a zoo. He knows it also not differently....
he was born there.

Your aversion against the keeping of animals in zoos is understandable. Thank God meanwhile there are encouraging and hopeful alternatives which respect the right of animals to live in freedom and dignity.
Taormina club has replied to * ઇઉ * clubAber immerhin arbeitet man daran den Tieren so den Schutz

Taormina club has replied to Roger Bennion clubMy feelings are the same as you. No matter how much space they get, it's not enough. Some places do have acreage for animals which is wonderful but well, it's still not their native home.
Being born and raised in San Francisco, I did get to see our hideous zoo upgraded through the years. I am old enough that I remember the "Lion House" and "Cat House" with the classic barred cages. All has changed and today the habitats are of the highest respect they can give the animals. As well, I was totally amazed that there are phones located EVERYWHERE that are for anyone to call security if there is anyone teasing/harrassing/bothering any animal. And for the first time I found parents teaching their children that it is not appropriate to raise their voices to get an animal's attention or to ever throw anything into their enclosure. There are signs posted everywhere that warn not to bother any animal or they will be tossed out of the zoo on their ear. YES!
No. It is not the wild home they should have. But zoos do serve a critical role today for many species and so we must grudgingly accept that, if the habitats are acceptably large with hides for them and proper food, it is ok. I still hurt deeply over their plights but unfortunately, zoos are now necessary for the survival of some species... *sigh*... politics, money...what can you do. :(
