The water level was up a bit! During much of the 80s the highway causeway out to Antelope Island, from the east shore, was flooded! No vehicle access except by boat. The island is a state park. IIRC the rains from the 1983 El Niño filled the lake--they even had to pump water out into the salt flats to the west to keep low-lying parts of Salt Lake City from flooding.

Did you see the buffalo (bison) on Antelope Island while you were there? They maintain a thriving herd.

No, unfortunately not. I saw a lot in Yellowstone in 1989 and 1996, but not on Antilope Island.

Beautiful composition! I'm impressed which quality comes out of a scanned slide - and a Minolta X700. I still have a X500 - so sad that the time of these cameras has gone. Such a big viewfinder and perfect manual focusing with even three elements: cross-sectional focus, fresnel ring and focusing screen. Today's focus peaking is nothing compared to that. HFF!
