Girls Will Be Girls ...

Girls Will Be Girls ...
I had so much fun with this week's Sunday Challenge, which had the theme of selective colouring, that I ended up with several possibles and here's the last of the ones that nearly made it.

This was a candid I took at a car show and is probably one of my favourites. Not only because of the girl's beautiful smile, but because of how I came to get the shot in the first place.

I'd been taking photographs of some Opel Manta cars on what I assume was a club stand when I noticed this pretty girl using the mirror of her car to check her look and apply some hairspray.

I thought it would be a great candid, but either I was too slow or she was to quick in realising what I was up to. So I missed the shot I was actually after, but ended up with this, which as I say is one of my favourite candids.

The Limbo Connection, aNNa schramm, , and 6 other people have particularly liked this photo

Well, this is a good shot, but not necessary edited this way ;-) This could look much better with larger areas of color, like woman's skin, or car, or both =)

You're probably right Sami to a point, that's one of the reasons I didn't use it as my main entry.

I don't particularly like selective colour where there are too many things or rather colours picked out, but this was just a bit of fun to highlight the tale behind the image. It was all about the can of hairspray so that's what I opted to pick up on.

Just a bit of fun really and it shows that the technique works for some images more than others ... in this case I much prefer the original full colour shot.

I disagree with Sami... I like just the little pop of colour. I believe it highlights just what she was doing before you snapped the shot. different strokes for different folks!

Great story. I was wondering how the hairspray happened to be in her hand.
