SHEELA NA GIG, ST MICHAEL'S, OXFORD

Her legs are parted to the day.
They prised her from the tower wall
before car fumes ate her away.

She shows no face. She bears no breast.
The priests claim she is not obscene:
a builder's warning against lust.

I laugh. I brush them off. I stare
into the black line of her slit.
How deep lips dance, how bare, how bare.

De pernas abertas para o dia.
Destaca-se da parede da torre
até ser corroída pelo fumo dos carros.

Não mostra a cara. Não tem peito.
Os padres afirmam que não é obscena:
avisa um promotor contra a luxúria.

Riu-me. Escovo-as. Olho
para a linha escura da sua racha.
Como dançam profundamente os lábios, tão despidos, tão expostos.
